Backing up your Chartsmart Custom Lists
Saturday June 25, 2005
In the case of computer problems you risk of losing the work you have done in creating your portfolios, watch lists, and personal filter lists. These are contained in a few files which are in your ChartSmart directory called:
private1.dbf, private1.fptdayfilt.dbf, dayfilt.fptmemos.dbf, memos.fptfgroups.dbf. fgroups.fpttools.dbf, tools.fptmemdata.dbf, memdata.fpt
You can simply copy these files to a floppy disk or you may wish to use this menu to do it for you. First, select the floppy drive, a or b, that you will be working with. Then put a diskette in and click on the © 2012, ChartSmart Inc.

More on Cup Chart Patterns in ChartSmart
Thursday June 16, 2005
I have pasted a formula just below for the CUP and Handle.
(#92h50#>(1.15*#60H50#)).and.(#92h50#>#CLOSE#).AND.(#CLOSE#>(1.1*#60H50#)).AND.(#8WKC0#>#22WKC0#).AND.(#102WKC0#<#92H50#).AND.(#CLOSE#>#15WKC0#)
This formula looks back about 142 trading days (92+50 days) and then looks for a decrease in value over a period starting 60 trading days ago to 110 trading days ago. The decrease in value must be at least 15% of the highest value in a 50 day period from 110 trading days ago to 50 trading days ago. then the current close is compared to the same period and then the following weeks to determine if the stock has continued to increase in value but has still not reached the handle.

Saucer Pattern
Tuesday June 07, 2005
Chartsmart’s professional version allows you a lot more flexibility in stock screening because you can specify the value of the open, high, low, close and volume plus all kinds of indicator values for up to about 200 days back. This allows you to construct patterns, like saucers for example where you can specify what the closing prices are for the stock over the last x days in relation to eachother. For example, 6 days ago it is over 20% above 5 days ago and 5 days ago it is 10% above 4 days ago and so on. This allows a lot of screening flexibility then you can just run your screen and view the charts.
