Day traders looking for price volatility will find this filter useful. It screens out all stocks that have shown price volatility of over 20% of the close for the last 3 days in a row. For example assume the following trades for the last 3 days:
0 days ago (high=2.00)(low=1.50)(close=2.00) therefore (change/close=.50/2.00)=25%
1 days ago (high=1.50)(low=1.00)(close=1.50) therefore (change/close=.50/1.50)=33%
2 days ago (high=1.50)(low=1.10)(close=1.20) therefore (change/close=.40/1.20)=33%
As you can see on the far right the volatility for the 3 days is 25%, 33%, and 33%. Since these are all above our filter limit of 20% then this stock would be included in the filter list. This filter shows the amazing flexability of ChartSmart. Though it is beyond this example, ChartSmart allows you to customize your own filters so that you can basically tell the volume and price bars exactly how they should look and relate to eachother as we have done in this example.
We have also included in this screen the criteria that the price must be over $.50 and the price must be trading within 30% of its year low. In the chart examples, you may find zooming them helpful in order to clearly view the volatility over the last 3 days of trading.

How to Screen Out these Stocks with ChartSmart
Creating this Filter List is quite simple. You can view the criteria and their settings in the criteria settings as shown. Next click on RUN FILTERED LIST, close the filter menu and go to the chart menu. Next click on the GRP button and then use the FORW button and BACK button to scroll through the charts in your filtered list.
