In ChartSmart we upload monthly a complete list of new listings for U.S. and Canadian Stocks. They are usually up to date within the last month. This enables you to look specifically at stocks that are new listings. This example screens out a list of stocks that are new listings for stocks on Canadian Exchanges. Note that we also put in a criteria to specify that the last trading price is within 20% of its yearly low. The reason for this is that it will ensure that the stocks have had a significant decline after their listing. It may be that as a result they have never really had a move upward and the opportunity may still exist for the stock. Simililary, one might check the news releases on the listing date for the stock to see what the offering price was at. This way you could determine if the current price is below it. If it were the case, then it might be that in buying at the current price you might be getting it at a price significantly lower than a large percentage of users already in it. The logic to this is that if the stock were to turn up there would be less price resistance because the other shareholders are in at higher prices and will want to at least break even rather than take a loss or there current investment. Note the blue line on the charts which represents the listing date.

How to Screen Out these Stocks with ChartSmart
This filter set requires that you do an extra step before clicking on the RUN FILTERED LIST BUTTON. It will not function properly if you do not do as follows. First click on the criteria to be used tab and you will see a criteria in the white box called NEW LISTINGS. If you click on this you will find it under the SPECIAL tab and it will be checked off. Click on the EDIT box beside the checkbox to display the NEW LISTINGS MENU. Now in the AFTER THIS DATE box put in the date that was about 5 months ago. Next in the BEFORE THIS DATE put in todays date or a date after it. Now be sure the other criteria are selected as shown. Next do RUN FILTER. This will create a list of stocks that match your date range of all stocks in our database that are recorded as new listings. Next return to the filter sets and click on RUN FILTERED LIST.
