Downloading your daily updates should be a simple process.

If you are just getting started you may find you are unable to download the daily update files from the site. If you are on trial it will not be your password because a free one is built in. Instead it is more likely to be a firewall issue which we will discuss more in the following. If you are a new subscriber and changed your password in boxes 5 and 6 under dialup settings it may be because you have entered in incorrectly (eg. should be lower case). More often though this is a result of a result of firewall or internet security settings. Try turning off firewalls and internet security to test.
1) Error in your Password
If ChartSmart was working fine and you just changed the passwords in boxes 5 and 6 under dialup settings and you are now finding you are unable to download the daily files, you should re input your passwords. This should never be necessary if you are on trial, but if you are subscribing and put in a password, you may have made a typing error. Try retyping in your personal password. Be sure it is LOWER CASE and that it is the same in both boxes 5 and 6.
2) Firewall Issues
If ChartSmart was working fine but you just upgraded your Windows Version or possibly installed some type of security program the problem is likely a firewall issue. The best way to handle this is first to try turning off your firewall(s) just to check if it is the problem. Then try downloading again and see if it works. If it does you can turn your firewall back on and try lowering the security settings or allowing access to our FTP server. In almost all cases download problems occur because users have just gotten a new computer with Internet Security Programs, or they just downloaded one and installed it.
